Meet the Animals

Meet the animals that call Big Mama’s Farm their home. Chickens, goats, rabbits, dogs…a cat and some fish. We are becoming an effective full circle– Animals not only bring companionship and love….on a farm, they provide the nutrients and waste disposal necessary for an efficient system of food production, environmental stewardship and healthy living. Plus—they are pretty darn cool. We hope to raise a couple more chicks this spring, to join our 3 happy hens. Yesterday, I trapped the goats in between 2 greenhouses–blackberry control. I turned around only to find them leaping my barricade, set to feast on the pond garden. After a not-so-brief moment of cat and mouse (I am pretty sure I was the mouse), they were successfully tied to the fence surrounded by…blackberries.  I don’t think they like me, and quite frankly, the feeling is often mutual.

Kyo-Kyo ("Salt" in Hawaiian) has 2 brown sisters, Dirt and Trunk. They live together in the staging greenhouse. We hope to have a new home for all rabbits this summer.

Eating. Working. Same thing to a goat.
