Smoothie Me Up

Smoothies have reached epic status in our kitchen. We broke the barriers of common and went extreme. My days of a smoothie ingredient short list are long gone.

Tip of the iceberg goodies in our smoothie madness:

Herbs: parsley, ginger root, turmeric root, basil and mint

Fats: coconut oil, avocados, coconut milk and nut butters.

Fruits and Veggies Galore: frozen carrots, yams, kale, spinach, fresh cucumber and celery, lemons and limes

Additions: ground flaxseed, chia, cinnamon, nutmeg and whole nuts.

EVERYTHING goes. With the right amount of citrus or tropical fruits, any flavor can be masked for those picky palates. Go bananas!

My kids give a thumbs up with almost every concoction….assigning crazy names like “Around the World” and “Superhero Punch.”
